Reese’s Peanut Butter Filling Ingredients

  • Peanut butter: The main ingredient you will need for this filling is peanut butter. There are two main types of peanut butter available in the market. Creamy and chunky. For this recipe, I prefer you use creamy peanut butter as it will give the filling the consistency it needs. However, if you love the chunks of peanut in chunky peanut butter and simply can’t live without it, use chunky peanut butter!
  • Powdered sugar: Powdered sugar or confectioners sugar is easy to find and is available at all grocery stores. You can make it at home as well. Grind granulated white sugar into a fine powder, and that’s it. Powdered sugar will not just add sweetness but will also give the filling a body and texture so that it holds its shape and is not sticky.
  • Butter: Adding softened butter will make this filling buttery, glossy, and yummy.
  • Salt: A little bit of salt will balance out the sweetness of the peanut butter and sugar.

How to make Reese’s Peanut Butter Filling

You can easily make Reese’s peanut butter filling by following these easy steps:

  • Step 1: Start by adding 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 1 tsp salt, and 2 tbsp softened butter to a large bowl. Mix the ingredients so that everything is well combined. Softened butter will mix easily as compared to hard butter. Just place the butter at room temperature for a few minutes to soften it up a little.
  • Step 2: Next, start adding 2 cups of powdered sugar in small intervals. Whisk the ingredients together before adding the next batch of powdered sugar. Whisk until everything is well combined. The mixture will get lighter in color and will start to thicken up.
  • Step 3: Once you have used up all the powdered sugar, the consistency of the filling will now be like playdough. When you scoop it out and shape it using your hands, it will be very easy to handle and won’t be sticky. If the filling seems too sticky, add some more powdered sugar.

Tips to Remember

Although makings Reese’s peanut butter filling and cups are super easy, here are a few tips you should keep in mind:

  • If you have a peanut allergy, you can use any other nut butter! Almond butter or cashew butter works just fine.
